Differences Abound Between US, UK In Dealing with Coronavirus
‘Free’ America is Killing Itself
Some say the US has the worst record among the world’s countries on dealing (effectively) with the coronavirus. The media, and the government, in the UK might cause you to think otherwise.
A long Messenger note from a friend near London cited a draconian directive from the government outlining steps to be taken as the UK backs off a near-total lockdown. More will be permitted than is presently the case, but there still will be enough closings to keep a sizable share of the population grumbling. Example: Pubs and other “entertainment venues” will, all being well, be allowed to reintroduce outdoor drinking and dining effective April 12. As of this writing, that’s a long six weeks in the future!
Here’s what my friend sent me:
“Well, I’ve had my first vaccination, thank God, so am beginning to feel a little more relaxed and optimistic.
“But we’re still not allowed to go anywhere unless essential and things are going to change only very slowly. So far as the rules affect us directly, from the 29th March we will be allowed to mix outside with one other household. In fact, I’ll just paste the government’s advice here so you can see the whole kaboodle.
